Coffee liqueur is a traditional Galician after-dinner drink, with an intense and aromatic flavor.
It is prepared with ground coffee, sugar, orange and lemon peels, spices, and aguardiente (grain alcohol).
The process involves infusing the mixture for several days so that the flavors meld perfectly, resulting in a sweet and comforting beverage enjoyed on special occasions.
Homemade Coffee Liqueur
Ingredients
120 grams of Coffee beans
½ liter of Water
500 grams of Sugar
1 Orange
1 Lemon
1 Cinnamon stick
1 Sprig of lemon balm
1 liter of White aguardiente
Preparation
Step 1 : First, grind the coffee beans in a blender for ten seconds at speed six, then set aside.
Step 2 : In a clean container, add the water and sugar, and set a 15-minute process at Varoma temperature and speed two to prepare a syrup.
Step 3 : Next, add the orange and lemon peels, the anise or cinnamon stick, the ground coffee, and the lemon balm, mixing everything for twenty seconds at speed two.
Step 4 : Then, allow the mixture to cool down. Once at room temperature, add the white aguardiente, mixing again for twenty seconds at speed two.
Step 5 : Pour the resulting mixture into an airtight jar and let it macerate in a dark place for a period of five to eight days, stirring daily to enhance flavor blending.
Step 6 : At the end of the maceration time, strain the drink several times using a cloth or fine sieve to remove impurities.
Step 7 : Bottle the beverage in clean bottles and let it rest for at least three months before consuming, allowing the flavors to mature and harmonize over time.
